These snakes are known for their robust health and adaptability.

Husbandry

Enclosure Size: An adult Great Basin Gopher Snake requires a spacious enclosure, such as a 40-gallon terrarium or larger. Provide plenty of room for climbing and hiding, with a secure lid to prevent escapes.

Lighting Requirement: While Gopher Snakes are not UVB-dependent, providing a regular light cycle of 12 hours light and 12 hours dark will help mimic their natural day-night rhythm. Use a standard daylight bulb to illuminate the enclosure.

Heating Requirement: Maintain a temperature gradient in the enclosure, with a warm side ranging from 85-90°F (29-32°C) and a cooler side between 70-75°F (21-24°C). Use an under-tank heater or heat lamp to achieve these temperatures, ensuring a proper thermal gradient.

Feeding & Vitamins: Feed on appropriately sized rodents, such as mice or rats, every 7-10 days. Gopher Snakes do not require additional vitamin supplements if fed a varied diet of properly sized prey.
